The Falls Creek Race Club has been operating for almost forty years after being established in the late 1960s. The club initially ran races on the Falls Creek summit area every weekend and a few years later started the training squad.
Hundreds of children have been involved over the past four decades and our programs have produced a number of skiers who have been successful at both national and international levels. Most importantly, athletes involved in the various programs we offer have made new friends, improved their snowsports skills and learned to enjoy and respect our mountain environment.
Falls Creek has produced Alpine skiing Olympians Ross and Malcolm Milne, Joanne Henke, Jenny Altermatt and Steven Lee. Dick Walpole and Chris Heberle from Falls Creek also competed at Olympic level in Cross Country skiing & Paul and Adrian Costa in Freestyle Moguls. Many others have participated in National Teams including Michael Clarke (Junior world mogul champion), Tom Costa, Lisa Spargo, Megan & Tim Scott.
Several of our more recent members (Joelle Chevalier, Seb Wilton and George Ellis) have competed at Toppolino, an international children's race while existing members Jonno Wong and George Ellis are members of the Victorian Junior Development Team for alpine skiing. Lucy Redford-Hunt top female junior racer is currently the J1 national GS champion.
This years current Australian Childrens Squad selections from Falls Creek where James Easton, Oscar Johnstone, Maddie McMahon and Greta Small. Maddie McMahon competed at Topolino and had a great experience.
Membership of the Falls Creek Race Club provides an environment for junior and senior snowsport enthusiasts to hone their skills, become 'snow fit' and enjoy the company of like-minded people endeavouring to increase their skill level in their chosen snowsport.
